Prime Radiant plays a guiding influence in the development of the foundation novels. It’s based on the concept of psychohistory, a mathematical science developed by Hari Seldon to predict the future behavior of large populations.

Psychohistory is based on two assumptions for it to work:

1. Human conglomerates are large enough to be analyzed statistically
2. These analyzed groups are unaware of the reactions, ensuring randomness

So Prime Radiant is an instrumentation of psychohistory. It offers a roadmap designed to shorten the inevitable collapse and dark age of the Galactic empire from 30,000 years to just 1,000.

It projects glowing lines and equations viewable in three dimensions. The device is interactive, allowing for user interface. It also keeps a record of what and when changes were made, offering transparency and continuity across generations of psycho historians. Intersecting at these points with computational devices of our time.

This device symbolizes intellectual foresight and rational control over chaos. Story telling the idea that knowledge, planning, and action can shape the future of an entire civilization.
